About
William "Troy" Henley is an American artist who was born in Philadelphia, but relocated, with his family, to Lawnside, New Jersey, at the age of 10 years young. Troy spent a lot of his early years drawing whatever came to mind, but for some reason he started drawing himself (over and over) crossing the finish line in first place of a race. Ironically Troy became a decent sprinter, who excelled in high school and college. In 1982, Troy broke his high school's record in the 100 meters and the record still stands today with a 10.4. Troy earned a track scholarship and graduated from Ohio University with a Fine Arts degree. Following college, he sold some art pieces which led to being part of a few art shows and events in New Jersey, Ohio and Atlanta, however; he did not hone in on improving his art as he focused more on working various jobs ranging from sales to being part owner of a restaurant, a mental health support counselor and mentor. Now Troy resides in Hampton Virginia and is an art teacher on the high school level. While he LOVES teaching art to his students, he has also refocused on building his art skills, selling art originals and prints of his recent work. Troy is infatuated with Surrealism art. Troy believes the creative imagination of the Surrealism art style, can encourage people to think far outside the box, while enhancing a thought or a vision to a different level of seeing and understanding every day normal things such as love, history and music. Troy's art consist of color pencils, graphite pencils, graphite and charcoal powder, acrylic paintings as well as computer graphics art. Troy has been commissioned to do custom paintings, drawings and murals among other art projects for various people, schools, churches and businesses. Troy is also a member of Kappa Alpha Psi, since 1988.
